Champion's story is character driven. It's about their trials and tribulations and how they deal with their issues, both physical and mental. Travis Johnson gets angry easily but he's also passionate and determined to achieve his goals. Travis' coach, Mac Louis, has the burden of training Travis as well as being a witness to Joseph's murder but on the other hand he's confident and a good motivator, he has a very comforting vibe as he pushes Travis to break new limits. Joseph Johnson doesn't do much, seeing as though he's literally dead, but he is Travis' #1 motivation and in the flashbacks he's kind, making his death more tragic and unjust. Ben Douglas is the main antagonist and he has a very intimidating aura. He managed to kill Joseph Johnson and he has the audacity to insult Travis about it, this is to make the audience want Travis to defeat Douglas, to overcome the challenges and avenge his late brother.
